The efforts that the bidders made to participate was significant; many traveled by plane, then rental car, then a forty-five minute ferry ride, and then by golf cart shuttle to finally arrive at the home. Once on Daufuskie Island, the bidders were intoxicated with the natural beauty and wildlife of the island. The lucky winning bidder came from Atlanta, Georgia.
