The month of February is truly a celebratory time in the Winter Colony, the location of the historic home “The Balcony” in Aiken, SC. Equestrians arrive from all over the country to participate in the popular fox hunting events and other equestrian pursuits. Hunt Clubs throughout Aiken were having their annual hunt parties and one hunter coming from the mid-west had such a wonderful time in Aiken that she and her husband determinedly beat 12 other bidders for ownership of the historic home. They look forward to escaping the harsh winters of their native state and coming south with their horses and other family pets.

Over 450 families inquired about the historic home, “The Balcony” built by Seymour Knox. The Knox family is known for the origination of the Woolworth stores, and being that the Knox’s loved all things equestrian especially polo, they made Aiken, SC their winter residence.
